The Nashville Farmer’s Market is another reason why I love my ‘hood. I went there yesterday in search of strawberries and blueberries for our morning smoothies, but instead found juicy Georgia peaches and blackberries so plump and huge that I bought them instead. Also, there were no strawberries or blueberries to be found. Where are the strawberries? Did I miss the season or has it not happened yet?
I also found a guy from The Peach Truck. The Peach Truck’s story is so cute, you should read about it: http://thepeachtruck.com/pages/about. Anyway, it’s awesome to have fresh juicy Georgia peaches within walking distance.
Morning Smoothie Ingredients (makes two 10 oz smoothies:
- 10 oz crushed ice
- 1 peach, pit removed, peeled and sliced
- handful of fresh blackberries
- 1/2 cup of greek nonfat plain yogurt
- 1 squirt of honey, like a tablespoon or so (buy local honey, it will help your allergies!)
- 3/4 cup of water
Wizz the above ingredients up in your blender (or use an immersion blender, my favorite tool) until creamy-smooth. Serve with a sprig of fresh mint, enjoy!
